Dallas Frisbee Photos

Posted by balletdancer51 on November 9, 2006

Hey all. I’ve been trying to get some photos and video of the team, but my friends seem to be just as busy as I am. Until I can get copies of everything, check out the link below. Jason Mechler, better known as Pokey in the ultimate community does professional photography for the Dallas ultimate leagues. You’ll probably see me in some of these!

Schwagball: Frisbee’s Washers

Posted by balletdancer51 on November 9, 2006

Schwagball: a frisbee staple. At long tournaments or frisbee parties, don’t be surprised if someone breaks out a game of schwagball. This is frisbee’s version of washers. This is how you play:

Supplies:

Two frisbees
Two buckets (preferably trashcans up to at least waist height)

Set the buckets ten yards apart. Separate into two teams of two and put one teammate on each side. Someone from the first team will aim the frisbee to go in the opposite bucket. If it makes it in there are three points now on the board. If it just rims the bucket there is one point on the board. The next person on their side goes and must match the points on the board (or make it in). The first player that cannot match gives the point to the team that last matched and clears the board. This continues until one team reaches a pre-set score.

That’s pretty much it. In fact, it’s quite entertaining and can become very competitive among athletes. As an aside, my friend Rat and I are the schwagball dream team of UT Dallas. Here’s to seeing you guys at the next match!

Hat Tournament

Posted by balletdancer51 on November 9, 2006

Hey guys. I know it’s been a while, but things have been kind of crazy with work and school. I wanted to tell all of you how the hat tournament went after Halloween. It was awesome! Only two of us went however (Rat; schwagball partners forever) which I was kind of disappointed about but not completely surprised. There was a pretty big party the night before (I for one slept at the party and went straight from there to the tourney, but that’s neither here nor there). We had another party afterward and it was an all around wonderful frisbee weekend. I’ll let you guys know the next tournament that comes up.
